Phil Jones, President of Northern Powergrid says: “The hard work has just begun. The project will run over a period up to the end of 2013, with its activities broadly split across a three year period as follows:-
2011:-
- Specify, procure and install customer and network monitoring equipment
- Develop tariffs and customer propositions
- Recruit customers for project trials
- Specify and commence procurement of network technology equipment
2012:-
- Collect customer and network monitoring data for analysis and evaluation
- Operate customer demand response interface
- Operate individual network technology equipment
- Test customer flexibility
2013:-
- Test network flexibility
- Operate multiple network technology equipment in unison
- Complete analysis and evaluation of customer and network flexibility
- Refine the optimum solution between the customer and network needs
- Disseminate the findings of project and recommend changes to industry technical and commercial policy and codes of practice
