CLNR 2013 Regional stakeholder forum

Overview

More than 60 delegates gathered at Newcastle’s Centre for Life, to learn about the latest findings from the Customer-Led Network Revolution, the UK’s biggest smart grid project.

Key members of the CLNR team from Northern Powergrid, British Gas, Durham University and National Energy Action presented the latest findings from the project to an audience of approximately sixty delegates including; Ofgem, ENA, all six UK DNOs, academic institutions and important regional stakeholders like Narec and Newcastle and Durham City Councils.

Professor Phil Taylor, the newly appointed Director of the Newcastle Institute for Research and Sustainability and the academic lead on CLNR project opened the event which focused on;

  • How CLNR recruited more than 12,000 domestic and business customers to take part in its on-going trials; and
  • How consumers have adapted their behaviour and energy usage in response to incentives and interventions like time of use tariffs and demand side response.
